History & Objectives
The Panel was formed in 1987 and aims to identify crime related problems, to consider methods of tackling these and to undertake projects designed to assist in solving the problems.
The Panel has a formal written constitution and is registered with the Charity Commission.
Area of Operations
The Panel operate in the Mid-Wirral Area of Merseyside, in the North West of the UK. This area includes the villages of Barnston,Bebington,Brimstage,Bromborough,Eastham,Gayton,Greasby,Heswall,Irby,New Ferry,Pensby, Port Sunlight, Raby Mere, Storeton, Thingwall and Thornton Hough.
Membership
The Panel is made up of local volunteer members of the community from a variety of backgrounds and who work closely with Merseyside Police who provide technical advice, statistics and general support. Prospective new members are always welcome to apply.
Recent Project and Success
The Panel has supported several 7-a-side Schools Football Competitions organised by Merseyside Police, helping to build better relationships with the Police.
The Panel has also supported a 5-a-side Football Competition organised by Merseyside Police 
In addition the Panel has worked with Merseyside Police in running football coaching sessions for local children.

With a donation from the Crime Prevention Panel and the Merseyside Police the Fender Youth Club ran a project called Bench Mark. The letter of thanks read :
With the money from the Crime Prevention Panel we have bought the young people involved in the Virtual Baby Project
(a teenage pregnancy project which covers sexual health, relationships, aspirations etc) a changing bag and sling for there babies- this project is an on-going project which will continue un-till July when the 5 young women will take their babies home for the weekend. There is also a large demand for other young people to become involved in the project and we have a waiting list of young people interested!!
For 20 years the panel has supported numerous youth projects in Wirral
The Panel has recently combined with Merseyside Police Community Relation Department in Wirral,Woodchurch Regeneration Partnership and North Wirral Crime Prevention Panel and to donate funding to Wirral Youths for new football kits.
The kits were handed to the team at Bidston Tennis Centre following a following a football competetion.

A new project assisted by funding from the panel is a "Boxercise" project for young females. We will be reporting on the progress of the project, run by Julie Graham, in the near future.
Sadly we say goodbye to Constable Colin Newby. Colin has served the Police force for many years and is retiring at the end of the month.
Colin has also spent many hours with the Mid Wirral Crime Prevention Panel and has organized events such as the football competitions we have featured above.
